Diretrizes para Autores

General structure of the journal

JBMEDE publishes Editorials, Original Articles, reviews for the Emergency Physician, Review Articles, Case Reports, Letter to the Editor, and Brief Communication.

The Editorials are prepared by invitation of the editorial board of the journal, and the spontaneous submission of this type of manuscript will be refused.

The contribution must be unpublished and original and cannot be evaluated for publication in another journal.

The journal receives manuscripts for evaluation in Portuguese and English, but the publications are only in English and available in electronic format. If a manuscript initially submitted in Portuguese is approved, the author must arrange for the translation of the content for publication.

Text files must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) format. Manuscripts should be typed in Arial 12 font, with 1.5 spacing, justified, with margins of 2.5cm on each side, on page A4.

All types of manuscripts must mention whether there has been a conflict of interest and, except for editorials and letters to the editor, they must also state whether or not there was a source of funding – if so, the state which one.

In Original Articles, Reviews for the Emergency Physician, Review Articles, and Case Reports, it is necessary to detail the contribution of each author in the following items: conception and design of the study; data collection; data interpretation; composition of the text and approval of the final version to be published.

At the time of submission of Original Articles and Case Reports, documentation must be sent that proves the evaluation/waiver and approval of a Research Ethics Committee.

The table presents the main characteristics of each type of manuscript. The maximum number of pages excludes titles, abstracts, descriptors, references, tables, and illustrations. Different formatting must be justified through a Cover Letter attached to the manuscript during submission.
