Article Format
LAJEC publishes Editorials, Original Articles, Reviews for the Emergency Physician, Review Articles, Case Reports, Letters to the Editor, and Brief Communications. Editorials are prepared by invitation of the editorial board of the journal, and the spontaneous submission of this type of manuscript will be refused. Contributions must be previously unpublished and original and cannot be undergoing evaluation for publication in another journal at the same time.
Language
The journal receives manuscripts for evaluation in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. All articles must have a title and abstract in all three languages. Once an article is accepted for publication, authors are encouraged–but not required–to submit translations of the article to the other two languages.
Author Contributions
In Original Articles, Reviews for the Emergency Physician, Review Articles, and Case Reports, it is necessary to detail the contribution of each author in the following items: conceptualization; investigation (data collection); formal data analysis; writing of original draft; review and editing; and approval of the final version to be published. You may also add other roles based on CRediT criteria.
Conflict of interest
All types of manuscripts must mention whether there has been a conflict of interest, and except for editorials and letters to the editor, articles must also disclose sources of funding.
Institutional Review Board
At the time of submission of Original Articles and Case Reports, documentation must be sent that proves the evaluation/waiver and approval of a Research Ethics Committee or Institutional review board.
Formatting
Text files must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) format. Manuscripts should be typed in Arial 12 font, with 1.5 spacing, justified, with margins of 2.5cm on each side, on page A4.
The table presents the main characteristics of each type of manuscript. The maximum number of pages excludes titles, abstracts, descriptors, references, tables, and illustrations. Different formatting must be justified through a Cover Letter attached to the manuscript during submission.
