The Latin American Journal of Emergency Care (LAJEC) (previously Jornal Brasileiro de Medicina de Emergencia, established in 2021) is a publication of the Brazilian Association of Emergency Medicine (ABRAMEDE) with support from the Department of Emergency Medicine at Emory University and endorsed by the Federación Latinoamericana de Medicina de Emergencias (FLAME) and the Asociación Latinoamericana de Cooperación en Emergencia Médica y Desastres (ALACED).

LAJEC is an open access, free-to-publish journal that seeks to promote emergency care research in Latin America by 1) providing a platform for the publication of academic emergency care work in Portuguese; Spanish, and English, 2) coaching authors about scientific writing through peer-review; and 3) fostering an academic emergency care community in the region.

LAJEC publishes articles related to Emergency Care. LAJEC is an open-access journal and does not charge a fee for article submission, review, and publication. The journal will accept articles in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. All articles will be required to include a title and abstract in all three languages. Authors of accepted articles will be invited to submit full article translations in the other two languages once the peer-review and proofing processes are finished, but this is not mandatory.

All submission and review processes are conducted electronically and can be accessed at https://lajec.org.

The decisions of the editors and its boards are made independently of LAJEC or publishing partners. The concepts expressed in the submitted manuscripts are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not reflect the opinion of the editors of the journal. The editor-in-chief is responsible for the selection and management of the Editorial Board and the Advisory Board.

Articles accepted for publication become the property of the journal and may be reproduced only with the authorization of the editor-in-chief.
