Introduction: The stabilish of roles among members of the cardiopulmonary resuscitation team is an important element for the formation of high-performance teams. The objective of this study is to evaluate whether the use of badges identifying the member’s roles of the resuscitation team reduces the execution times of the first actions of care for cardiopulmonary arrest. Method: This is a prospective randomized experimental study carried out with staff and residents of the State Department of Health of the Federal District. The participants were randomized into an intervention group – they received identification badges with roles of the team members (leader, defibrillator and airway) – and a control group to perform in a realistic simulation of an in-hospital cardiac arrest, after comparing the average time between groups for the first defibrillation (primary outcome), recognition of CRP and obtaining an advanced airway by the Student’s T-test. Furthermore, the participants' self-perception of the quality of care and intervention was evaluated. Results: 42 individuals participated in the study, there was no statistically significant difference between the average time of the groups in the analyzed variables, but the participants considered that the intervention had a positive impact on the group performance. Conclusion: The use of identification badges is a strategy for organizing the cardiopulmonary resuscitation team, but it does not seem to be an independent variable for the formation of high-performance teams.
